Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Christian-themed films have emerged as a prominent genre within the global and Nigerian film industries, offering narratives rooted in faith, morality, and spiritual transformation. These films often address societal issues such as addiction, crime, and family conflict while promoting Christian values and ethical principles (Eze & Akintunde, 2023). In a society like Nigeria, where religion plays a significant role in shaping behavior and social norms, Christian-themed films hold the potential to influence youth perspectives positively. Ankpa Local Government Area, a community with a strong Christian presence, presents a unique context for examining the impact of these films on youth behavior, attitudes, and spiritual growth (Musa & Johnson, 2024). This study explores the role of Christian-themed films in shaping the moral and social outlook of youths in Ankpa, focusing on their influence on decision-making, relationships, and community engagement.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the growing popularity of Christian-themed films, their impact on youth behavior and attitudes remains under-researched, particularly in regions like Ankpa Local Government Area. Youths face various challenges, including peer pressure, moral dilemmas, and societal expectations, which may not be adequately addressed by traditional interventions (Adebayo & Yusuf, 2023). While Christian-themed films provide moral guidance and inspiration, their effectiveness in addressing the unique challenges of young people in Ankpa is unclear. This study seeks to fill this gap by investigating the influence of Christian-themed films on youth behavior and attitudes.

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on the impact of Christian-themed films on youths in Ankpa Local Government Area, Kogi State. It is limited to film narratives with explicit Christian themes and does not explore other religious or secular films.

- Youths: Individuals between the ages of 15 and 35, typically considered young people in Nigeria.
